How do I use Gmail SMTP server to send emails for SRM?

Make sure you have enabled 2-Step Verification and App Passwords for your Google account2 before proceeding with the following steps:

  1. Go to SRM Control Panel > Notification > Email.
  2. Tick the checkbox of Enable email notifications.
  3. Fill in the Recipients and Subject prefix.
  4. Set the Service provider to Custom SMTP server.
  5. Fill out the required fields according to the instructions below:
    • SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
    • SMTP port: 587
    • Authentication required: Tick the checkbox.
      • Username: Enter your Gmail address.
      • Password: Enter your 16-character app password configured in your Google account.
    • Secure connection (SSL/TLS) is required: Tick the checkbox.
    • Sender name: Enter a name as you like. This will appear on SRM email notifications.
    • Sender email: Enter your Gmail address. Note that if the Sender email differs from the Username above, your emails may be marked as spam.
  6. Save the settings and wait for SRM to connect to your Google account.
  7. Click Send a Test Email to see if the settings are correct.
